Practical branding advice for Australian businesses.

Straight-talking guides on what branding costs and what it is actually made of. We publish a guide when we have something worth saying, so there are only a couple here rather than a wall of filler.

Why there are 2 guides here and not 14

This blog used to list 14 titles. 12 of them were headings with roughly 2 sentences underneath and a reading-time badge that had been typed in by hand rather than counted, so a page badged an 8 minute read held about 60 words. Those 12 URLs have been removed rather than quietly padded out. A title that promises an answer and delivers a placeholder costs a reader more than an empty blog does, and it is not something we want indexed under our name.

What is left are the 2 guides that were actually written. One works through what sits behind a logo quote and why 2 designers can price the same brief very differently. The other explains what a brand identity is made of, part by part, so you can tell which parts you are being quoted for. Neither carries a market survey, because no survey exists: any figure in them is an illustrative planning figure and says so on the page.

If you want a number rather than an explanation, the cost calculator publishes its whole model, including the adjustment factors and 3 worked examples, so you can check the arithmetic instead of trusting the output. If you want to know how the referral itself works before you send anything, that is set out on our process page, and the FAQ covers who does the work, who pays us and what we do not do. More guides will appear here when there is something worth publishing, and not before.

Need a real designer?

Articles are useful for research. When you are ready for a number, your enquiry goes to an experienced Australian brand design studio that quotes on your actual brief, and we aim to respond within 1 business day.
